HISTORY OF COURT OF ARBITRATION AT PCPE LEWIATAN
The very beginning of the Court of Arbitration is rooted in the institution once known as a sellers’ court. This type of court enabled the professionals to settle amicably the disputes arisen while providing the business. It was a synonym of fast, specialized and informal forum. Therefore, the constitution of the Court of Arbitration was of such an importance for PCPE Lewiatan, the main aim of which is to support the entrepreneurs in every aspect of business activity.
The Court was established under the resolution of the Confederation Extraordinary General Meeting of 15 February 2005. The very reason for its constitution was guaranteeing the entrepreneurs acting in Poland a fast and professional dispute settlement forum, which would also enable to reduce the costs of providing business.
It is a proper forum for solving the disputes arisen both between domestic entities, including individuals, small enterprises and public companies, and between foreign and international ones. The latter were mostly companies from other member states of the European Union. Till now, about 25 per cent of cases have concerned the common market.
On the 15th of February 2011, the Court of Arbitration at the PCPE Lewiatan celebrated its 6th anniversary, which is a real success.
