We are proud to invite you to “Arbitration in Sport 2012”, the first international conference in Poland concerning the sports arbitration. The conference will be held on 8 February 2012 at the premises of the old Library of the University of Warsaw (Krakowskie Przedmieście 26/28).
The program is divided into three panels. In the first one experts from country and abroad, i.e. Yuliya Chernykh, Arbitrade, Ukraine, Dr. Lucien W. Valloni, Froriep Renggli, Switzerland, Dr. Jalal El Ahdab, Orrick, France, Mec. Paweł Granecki, Broniszewski&Granecki, Poland, Laurence Burger, Winston&Strawn, Switzerland and Dr. Nils Schmidt-Ahrendts, Hanefeld Rechtsanwälte, Germany will discuss the the international sports arbitration before CAS in Lausanne. The second panel will be focused on the framework and practice of the CAS Ad Hoc Division in major sports events. Those matters will be reviewed by Olena Perepelynska, Sayenko Kharenko, Ukraine, Jorge E. In the third panel Prof. Dr. hab. Andrzej Wach, University of Warsaw, Poland, Mec. Romana Troicka-Sosińska, Secretary General of the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the Polish Olympic Committee (PKOl), Poland and Mec. Andrzej Springer, BWWS, Poland, will elaborate on the sports arbitration in Poland. The panels will be moderated respectively by Dr. Beata Gessel-Kalinowska vel Kalisz, , FCIArb, President of the Lewiatan Court of Arbitration, Managing Partner of GESSEL; Mec. Piotr Nowaczyk, FCIArb, CAS (Arbitrator), International Court of Arbitration ICC (Member), Salans (Partner); Prof. dr hab. Zbigniew Ćwiąkalski, President of the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the Polish Olympic Committee.
The conference will precede the Fourth Warsaw Pre-moot (9-10 February 2012) – an international preparatory event for the teams representing Polish and foreign universities in Willem C. Vis. International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition (Vis Moot).
Vis Moot is one of the most prestigious and the biggest competitions for law students. It is consecrated to international trade law and it simulates international arbitration proceeding. The upcoming finals of the 19. edtion, will gather in Vienna 288 teams from around the world.
The conference is organized by the Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution. Also the Lewiatan Court of Arbitration and YAPP ( Young Arbitration Practitioners in Poland) are partners to both events. The media patronage for the whole initiative is held by Rzeczpospolita, ADR Quarterly and Transnational Dispute Management.
