The Arbitration Workshop was held on November 21, 2012 (venue: Lewiatan Court of Arbitration, Zbyszka Cybulskiego 3). The Lewiatan Court of Arbitration together with PKPP Lewiatan were organizers of the Workshop. The event was conducted during the first day of the IBA European Forum in Warsaw (21-23 November 2012).
The main topic of the workshop coordinated by dr Beata Gessel-Kalinowska vel Kalisz, President of the Lewiatan Court of Arbitration, focused on the theme of ‘Cost and time: how to efficiently manage an arbitration proceeding’. The programme was designed to present the audience - prospective arbitration users, with the most effective tools in the context of arbitration proceedings management. Therefore among panelists were: an international arbitrator - dr Christian Borris; Genevieve Labbe-Beaumont representing investors; Bartosz Krużewski - a counsel, Maria Hauser-Morel representing arbitration institution (ICC) and dr Marcin Dziurda - representing prospective arbitration users.
The Panelists, representing different perspectives on arbitration proceedings, presented the following issues:
• Third party funding from the perspective of a funder: Genevieve Labbe-Beaumont, Fulbrook Management, LLC
• Cost reduction strategies from the perspective of an attorney: Bartosz Krużewski, Clifford Chance
• Time reducing procedures from the perspective of an arbitrator: dr Christian Borris, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP; Maria Hauser-Morel, ICC International Court of Arbitration
• Predictability from the perspective of a user: dr Marcin Dziurda, State Treasury Solicitors’ Office
